Heavy-Duty Recovery Services in Gallup, NM & I-40

Rollovers, jackknifes, load shifts, accident recovery, winch-outs and cargo spills, handled 24/7 across Gallup, Grants and the I-40 corridor.

Heavy-duty work is A&A Towing's specialty. Since 1997 our crews have answered recovery calls around the clock from our yard at 26 NM-122 in Continental Divide, covering Gallup, Grants and the Interstate 40 corridor across western New Mexico and into eastern Arizona.

When a truck is on its side, folded across the lanes or stuck off the shoulder, a tow truck alone is not enough. Recovery means planning the lift or pull, protecting the vehicle and its cargo, and working with law enforcement to clear the road safely. A&A Towing is fully licensed, insured and bonded, holds Wreck Master Certification, and has received a Gold Award from the National Towing Safety Administration.

Recovery work we handle

  • Rollovers: uprighting overturned cars, pickups, semis and tractor-trailers, plus cargo recovery. See Rollover Recovery.
  • Jackknifes: straightening and recovering jackknifed tractor-trailers, often in winter weather. See Jackknife Recovery.
  • Load shifts: re-securing or reworking freight that has moved so the truck can roll again safely. See Load Shift Correction.
  • Accident recovery: removing damaged vehicles from crash scenes and towing them to a shop or our secure yard.
  • Winch-outs and off-road extraction: pulling cars, trucks and trailers out of mud, sand, snow and ditches.
  • Cargo spills: recovering spilled freight and clearing it from the roadway in coordination with law enforcement.

What happens when you call

Call (505) 862-7114 any time, day or night. Dispatch will ask where you are (direction of travel and nearest I-40 mile marker, or the highway and closest town), what vehicle and trailer are involved, whether it is loaded and with what, and whether anyone is hurt or police are already on scene. Those details let us send the right equipment and crew the first time.

On scene, our operators look at the vehicle, the load and the ground before rigging anything. Once the vehicle is recovered, we can tow it to the repair shop of your choice or to our fenced, lit storage yard near Continental Divide, where trailers and cargo can wait securely for an inspection, an adjuster or a replacement tractor. See Secure Trailer Drop Yard & Storage.

What to do while you wait

  • If anyone is hurt or the vehicle is blocking traffic, call 911 first, then call us.
  • Turn on your hazard lights and set out triangles or flares only if you can do it safely.
  • Stay well away from traffic. Get behind a guardrail if there is one, and never stand between the vehicle and moving lanes.
  • Do not try to pull a stuck or overturned truck out with another vehicle. It usually makes the damage worse.
  • Have your company dispatch number, load details and insurance information ready.

Heavy-Duty Recovery FAQ

Is heavy recovery available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Our dispatch line at (505) 862-7114 is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for rollovers, jackknifes, load shifts, winch-outs and accident recovery.

What areas do you cover for heavy recovery?

We cover Gallup, Continental Divide, Grants and McKinley County, plus the I-40 corridor across western New Mexico and into eastern Arizona, along with US-491, NM-118 and NM-122.

What is the difference between towing and recovery?

Towing moves a vehicle that is on its wheels and easy to reach. Recovery gets a vehicle back into a towable position first, such as uprighting it, winching it out of a ditch, straightening a jackknife or dealing with a shifted load or spilled cargo. Many calls need both, and we handle both.

How much does heavy-duty recovery cost?

Every recovery is different. The size of the vehicle, the load, the location, the equipment needed and the time on scene all affect the cost. Call dispatch and we will explain how your job will be billed.

Can you store the truck, trailer and cargo after the recovery?

Yes. We have a gated, fully fenced and lit yard off I-40 near Continental Divide for trailer drops, damaged vehicles and commercial cargo.

Are you licensed and insured?

A&A Towing is fully licensed, insured and bonded, holds Wreck Master Certification, and has received a Gold Award from the National Towing Safety Administration.
